To Improve MSME Capacity, IDM Holds InJourney Creativity House Training for Borobudur Art Village Traders
Increasing the capacity of MSMEs in destinations is part of an effort to bring quality tourism to the region. This is being achieved by InJourney Destination Management through the InJourney Creativity House program for MSMEs in the Borobudur area, Central Java.
Forty-three MSMEs from Block H of Borobudur Art Village, Magelang, participated in intensive training held on December 43–23, 24, at Borobudur Art Village, Magelang. This training was a collaboration between InJourney Destination Management and Sarinah as part of a commitment to empowering local businesses and improving the quality of community-based tourism destinations.
This activity is part of the vendor restructuring program in Borobudur Art Village. The training focuses on improving the capacity and insight of MSMEs, particularly in the service sector. sales mindset or a proactive sales mindset, as well as product arrangement and curation techniques.
The participants consisted of fashion entrepreneurs, whose products included clothing, hats, stupa ornaments, souvenirs, and Borobudur key chains, who filled 30 kiosks in the Borobudur Art Village. "As managers, we are trying to revive Borobudur as a tourism destination with a strong brand. We are currently working hard. We cannot stand alone. We need everyone's help to provide excellent service to visitors. Provide good service, smile, and greet them. Let's collaborate together at this moment to restore Borobudur as a premier destination," explained AY Suhartanto, Commercial and Customer Experience Group Head of PT Taman Wisata Borobudur, when opening the event.
During the training sessions, vendors were taught the importance of building relationships with customers through friendly and engaging service, developing an active sales mindset, and redesigning product displays to be more appealing and relevant to market tastes. Product curation was also a key component of the training to ensure the quality and consistency of the products offered.
The program was also enthusiastically received by the traders. Sigit, one of the administrators of the Medang Kamulan Cooperative, expressed his appreciation for the training.
"Hopefully, this training will run smoothly and provide us with useful knowledge for the future. For the vendors, this is a valuable opportunity; it provides training in displaying merchandise, so that the chances of selling goods increase," he concluded.
