InJourney Strengthens the National Digital Creative Economy by Supporting the Indonesia Game Developers Exchange (IGDX) 2025
PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney, through its subsidiary InJourney Destination Management (IDM) supports the acceleration of Indonesia's digital creative economy by being part of the Indonesia Game Developer Exchange (IGDX) Business and Conference 2025 which will take place in Bali on October 9–11, 2025.
InJourney Destination Management President Director Febrina Intan explained that this participation is a strategic step to target potential collaboration between the tourism sector and the digital ecosystem, one of which is through the activation of local games. She hopes that cultural and heritage destinations such as Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko Palace, and TMII can inspire local game creators to create digital games rich in historical values.
"We're aiming for intensive collaboration and partnerships with local game developers to develop games steeped in local aesthetics, traditions, and cultural sites. Exploring with a contemporary approach presents a fresher narrative for Indonesia's younger generation," he explained.
At IGDX 2025, InJourney Destination Management presents Borobudur Verse, Virtual Reality developed by IDM to create a more immersive, interactive and educational travel experience for the public.
Borobudur Verse invites users to experience Borobudur Temple and explore every corner. This initiative, combining technology and tourism, was created to address the challenges and opportunities offered by the digital age.
"A digital ecosystem through the development of in-depth local narratives is necessary. This not only provides a unique experience but also helps promote our tourism destinations and arts and culture. This is something we must work towards together, as Indonesia's local gaming industry continues to grow," he continued.
Febrina Intan hopes that IGDX 2025 will not only produce games with market value, but also present local cultural narratives that meet international standards and are in demand.
"This collaboration also opens up opportunities to explore unique local narratives and aesthetics, making Indonesian games not just entertainment but also effective ambassadors for culture and tourism on the international stage," he explained.
IGDX 2025 is a platform that connects local game developers with investors, publishers, and global partners, strengthening Indonesia's position as one of the world's largest gaming markets. This year, IGDX carries the theme "Accelerating Southeast Asia's Creative Power," reflecting the spirit of cross-border collaboration and the drive to strengthen Indonesia's position as a growth hub for the gaming industry in Southeast Asia.
According to data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Indonesia currently ranks fourth in the world with over 154 million gamers, or around 40 percent of the total gamers in Southeast Asia. The national gaming sector contributes approximately Rp 71 trillion annually, with over 2.000 active developers and publishers across Indonesia.
IDM President Director Febrina Intan hopes that the Indonesian gaming industry will transform from mere entertainment to a key pillar of the national creative economy, boasting enormous potential. This rapid growth will have significant positive impacts, particularly in terms of job creation and increased contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
"The gaming industry has had a strong positive impact on the local gig economy, creating new jobs that align with the passions of the younger generation. These jobs aren't limited to programmers and game designers, but extend to a variety of other crucial roles," he concluded.
